MAHLE NFV – Customer Information "Ballast Water Treatment"

New IMO regulation for Ballast Water will come into force in 2009 for ships with a Ballast Water appearance of < 5000m³ and most likely within 2013 for ships with Ballast Water appearance of > 5000m³.

To meet the coming request on ballast water treatment systems MAHLE NFV developes its Ballast Water Treatment System BWTS basing on the long year experiences of Fuel-, Oil- and Water Treatment. The tests conducted so far had all been satisfying, but further tests are still in process.

No finalized regulations and test instructions of the nw IMO regulation are available yet, what means all currently presented systems would have to be tested and modified in accordance with future regulations.

This is the reason why it is too early to make statements about the final technique and design, about dimensions and prices.
