Commitment to building skills

MAHLE Industriefiltration GmbH supports marine engineering trainees in Elsfleth

On Wednesday, 11 February 2009, MAHLE Industriefiltration GmbH officially delivered an NFV MPEB-1 deoiler with a capacity of 1 m³/min to the Maritime Training Centre in Elsfleth.

This donation and the company’s offer of providing MAHLE Industriefiltration project engineers to assist with the training of the apprentices is testimony to MAHLE’s commitment to supporting marine engineering training courses at the Elsfleth centre. The donation will enable the young engineers to train with one of the world’s leading systems and the very first deoiler to fulfil the MEPC.107(49) standard. The NFV deoiler, which the trainee engineers will be using as part of their daily work on board, was designed to give outstanding operating safety. It also offers a broad range of other features, including exceptionally high separation without the use of chemicals and very low operating costs, making it an excellent choice for marine deoiling.

In keeping with the company’s philosophy of sharing tried and tested practical experience, MAHLE Industriefiltration has arranged with the representatives of the Maritime Training Centre to provide the services of the company’s leading experts. MAHLE engineers will be holding lectures at the centre to prepare the trainees for some of the tasks they will be facing during their day-to-day work. The Maritime Training Centre in Elsfleth is one of the institutions in a network of universities and colleges which MAHLE Industriefiltration is in close contact with. Our aim in maintaining a close working relationship with the institutions in this higher education network is to build and enhance the skills of the maritime personnel of the future.

The MAHLE Group is one of the 30 largest automotive suppliers worldwide. As the leading manufacturer of combustion engine components, systems and peripherals, MAHLE is among the top three suppliers for piston systems, cylinder components, valve train systems, air management systems and liquid management systems. MAHLE employs 48,000 employees in 110 production plants and eight research and development centers. In 2007, MAHLE generated sales in excess of EUR 5 billion (USD 7.5 billion).
